New Art Milano was founded in 2001 by the goldsmith Alfredo Origoni, who after forty years of experience at the most renowned goldsmithing studios in Milan, decided to dedicate himself to his projects, inaugurating a space right in the heart of the city of Milan.
In 2013, Davide, Alfredo’s son, gets into the project. The intersection of these two worlds, the first connected to the Italian goldsmith tradition and the second one concerning new generations style, gives life to jewellery collections of the highest quality and innovation. The working synergy between Davide and Alfredo has its origins in the passion for the beauty of goldsmith’s traditions, in the care of detail, and in the desire to create unique stories for each jewel, and thus, for each customer.
In the studio of New Art Milano drafts and drawings of Alfredo’s past sometimes emerge and show a glimpse of the goldsmith’s art from last century. These shapes are then renewed with a fresh design thanks to Davide’s creativity and to the shared passion for jewellery perfectly made.
New Art Milano is an authentic and genuine place of goldsmith excellence. The love for natural stone is the focus of mainly collections of the studio. Tanzanite, opal, sea water, ruby root, tourmaline are carefully selected from Italian suppliers.
Alfredo and Davide begin the final design of the jewel and of any detail from the impressions provoked by the always unique aesthetics of natural stones.
Each jewel has a unique style because each stone is different: for some collections, the circular structure of a ring can be made through a thin polished, glossy and minimal metal wire. For others, it can be exactly the opposite. As a fact, the artisans’ choice can be a massive circular structure, characterized by reliefs and perforations that make it similar to natural marine elements.
This authentic and exclusive aesthetic highlights perfectly the value and talents of the Italian goldsmith techniques. Any jewellery of New Art Milano collections is born according to the slow and simple timing typical of craft creativity.
The conscious combination of research and randomness can be done only in studio. When Alfredo and Davide forge metals and experiment new techniques, they feel free to overcome the goldsmith customs and understand the potential of certain unexpected forms.
The stones, of different shapes and cuts, are the main characters in the precious metal structure, often matched with the delicate presence of precious bright stones.
